Make Your Projects Unique with UV Coating
You're likely familiar with the benefits of UV (ultraviolet) inks and coatings: Ample surface protection, the pop they offer colors, and the ability to instantly dry. Many printers have a stable of happy customers that love the look of UV printing.
UV coating performed as a post-press process offers even more versatility than press-applied UV. At Eckhart & Company, we perform UV coating using a screen printing process, allowing for many different UV coating techniques. Here are details on a few of them:
Spot Coating - Specific areas of color or images on a printed product can be highlighted by applying UV coating only in the spots desired. Spot UV coating can be used to highlight photos, logos, or areas of large text such as a book title. For a dramatic difference you can apply both gloss UV and dull UV.
Glitter - At Eckhart & Company, we mix particles of glitter into UV coatings. These custom UV solutions must be handled delicately, but can lend a tactile dimension to your pieces that transcend the printed images.
Glow-in-the-Dark - When mixed properly, certain UV coatings will glow in the dark, adding an extra dimension to your pieces. Exposing these coatings to fluorescent lighting for long periods will 'charge' particles in the UV coating, resulting in an image area that continues to glow long after the lights have been turned down.
