Menus: A Buffet of Options
Menus are so commonplace that customers often give them little thought - unless they're poorly produced. The design and construction of a menu provides customers a strong perception about the dining experience, and the care that goes into the menu should reflect the care used in preparing the food.
At Eckhart & Company, we offer several different customized menu binding and construction possibilities. Here is a sampling:
Turned-Edge, Cased-Bound Menus
Many high-quality restaurants appreciate the flexibility of a menu that allows a sheet of daily menu items to be easily swapped in and out. A case-bound menu cover can be designed with vinyl or plastic pockets on each inside cover to hold each day's selections. If your menus will include permanent selections, pages can be bound into the cases with adhesive, sewn stitches or rivets. Design possibilities are nearly endless: Four-color litho- or screen-printed paper, cloth, and imitation leather in many colors and finishes are some of the turned-edge wrap materials available for your menus. Foil stamping, embossing, screen printing and UV coating can all be used to add a touch of elegance to your menu covers.
Tabletop Easel Menus
The value of most appetizer and drink menus is not in their perceived quality, but in their ability to be easily seen and used on a tabletop. One popular design is a mechanically-bound menu with a self-easel cover, which allows dining patrons to flip pages without taking up valuable table space. At Eckhart and Company, we can manufacture the easel cover and bind it automatically with the rest of the menu's sheets.
